How safe is it to have a liver transplant operation in Tianjin hospital in china ?
Q. I am about to travel to China to have such operation, and I would appreciate it if anyone could let me know how safe is it before I go, since it is gonna cost 200,000.00 $
Asked by Mena Gerges - Mon Sep 7 12:57:21 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I think you will be amazed at the hospital for all the right reasons. As long as its a decent hospital (and from the price your paying I think it will be, money goes a long way in China) I think you will find it to be clean and well arranged. The doctors English will be ok, but not amazing normally . Don't worry, you will be well looked after, just don't expect the food to be like the Chinese food you are used to!!

Tianjin China is south of Victoria Canada but the sun comes up earlier why?
Q. July 9 Tianjin sunrise: 4:53; sunset: 19:39; longitude 117 12 Victoria sunrise: 5:21; sunset; 21:16; longitude 123 21 I would think that if a place is further north, in the summer the sun would set later and rise earlier, but it looks like it sets later but also rises later, why?

A. It's the longitude (east-west) that counts, not the latitude (north-south).

Who can I contact to get married in an Anglican Church in Tianjin China? Is there a phone number I can call?
Q. I'm trying to organize my wedding in Tianjin China, I'm Catholic but my girlfriend isn't, so we can't marry in a Catholic church, we decided to get married in a Anglican Church instead, but it's difficult to find their contact details, can someone help us please? A minister there would be a good place to start since China is a very large place. . .thanks ;)
Asked by CarloS - Tue Dec 22 14:10:04 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. You should be able to marry in a Catholic Church, even though she is not Catholic. See the website for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, Question #4. See also There is a Holy Trinity Church in China, but it is in Shanghai, not Tianjin. And apparently it is being reconstructed for services and tourists. Don't know how old this article is, and couldn't find any contact info, but hope it helps. But check and make sure that you absolutely can't marry in the Catholic Church before you go the Anglican route, because you should be able to.

Why is the Chinese government in the Binhai New Area so paranoid about cable TV?
Q. They took away our satellite dish here in the Binhai New Area, Tianjin, China. The government people said that people are not allowed to have satellite dishes - only the government can have them. Is it this way all over China? What is China so afraid of cable TV? They've managed to censor some sites in the Internet and now they also want to forbid cable TV? What's the use of opening up to the world and throwing a huge Olympic bash?
Asked by entirelyofpossibility - Tue Oct 7 09:45:09 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Yes, that's how it is all over China. The Olympics was all about "face", about looking good in front of the world. In reality China still has a long, long way to go. What you have to understand is that the government of China has been this way for nearly 60 years. Most of the people who make the rules now were brought up to believe that this kind of control on people's minds is necessary. They rightly recognize that the most powerful weapon in this world is the idea. So they want to be the only source of ideas for people in China. But they will eventually fail. Why? Because Chinese people are leaving China to study abroad and because overseas Chinese keep ties with their relatives. That's how the ideas will get in that will change China, [cont.]

A. animosity towards Japan and Japanese still exists... just to give an example: one of my friend's grandfather was cooking rice... in a rice cooker that was a gift... someone told him that the rice cooker was Japanese... and he instantly threw the cooker... Japanese residents in China form a close knit society... rarely revealing their Japanese citizenship... many Chinese who have Japanese ancestors don't speak of it... for the fear of being ridiculed...
